The Beatles - Yesterday Guitar Chords, Lyrics, Tabs & Meanings

Beautiful beautiful song, Written By Sir Paul Mccartney, Yesterday is one of the greatest songs by The Beatles. It is from their 1965 album Help!

According to the Guinness Book of world Records, "Yesterday" has the maximum number of cover versions of any song ever written. The song remains popular today with more than 3,000 recorded cover versions, the first hitting the United Kingdom top 10 three months after the release of Help!.

BMI (Broadcast Music Incorporated) asserts that it was performed over seven million times in the 20th century alone. The song was not released as a single in the UK at the time of the US release, and thus never gained number 1 single status in that country. However, "Yesterday" was voted the best song of the 20th century in a 1999 BBC Radio 2 poll of music experts and listeners.

It was the first time a Beatle recorded without the others, and marked a shift to more independent accomplishments among the group. While John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote The Beatles early songs together, by 1965 most of their songs were primarily written by one or the other, although they continued to credit all their songs Lennon/McCartney.

Paul said he dreamed the melody and when he woke up he thought that someone else made it and put it in the back of his mind...After he realized that it wasn't anyone else's he wrote scrambled eggs as ferthuko said...Then he thankfully made it Yesterday, one of the best songs of all time.
