Excellent Eagles song, one of my favs.. "Take It Easy" is actually written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey, and recorded by the Eagles (with Frey singing lead vocals). It was the band's first single, released on May 1, 1972. It also was the opening track on the band's debut album Eagles and it has become one of their signature songs, included in most of their live and compilation albums. It is one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
The Eagles played this live long before they recorded it. It was one of the songs they played when they were doing 4 sets a night at a club in Aspen, Colorado. By the time they recorded it, the song had more of a Country feel.
According to Glenn Frey, the message of this song is, "You shouldn't get too big too fast." During the Eagles 1994 Hell Freezes Over tour, Frey would intro this song by saying, "And here's how it all started.
Anyways, I think the song is just basically not getting too serious, and staying grounded. Being humble, not starting conflict, and embracing what you have, even if its not enough. It's hard to find songs like this.
